Salsa Verde Steak Sandwiches

Unless this is your first visit to The Devilish Dish, then I don't have to tell you we are crazy for anything with green chiles around here.  I've shared everything from our famous Green Chile Stew to Green Chile Granola.  In fact, if you use the search box located on the right side of my page and type in "green chile" you'll get 10 pages of recipes that include green chiles.  When I found this recipe for Salsa Verde Steak Sandwiches from Taste and Tell I immediately looked to see what was in the salsa verde.  Deborah had me at green chile as soon as I saw the ingredients.  This is one of our favorite family meals.  It goes together quick, it's great tv watching food, and of course it has green chiles.
I would eat just about anything topped with this sauce.
One of our favorite sandwiches!

Mother's Day Measuring Cup Set (With FREE Printable!)

Mother's Day is this weekend and it's time to honor of the great ladies in my life  Not all of them enjoy cooking as much as I do.  Their skills range from novice to Martha Stewart.  But no matter the level of expertise, we can all appreciate a few new tools for the kitchen.  I'm willing to bet it has been years since my Mom has had a new set of measuring cups.  I'm hazarding a guess that the set she owns is mustard gold, slightly melted, and made by Tupperware circa 1975.  I saw these brightly colored liquid measuring cups at Wal-Mart.  I fell in love with the vivid colors and wound up buying 8 of the big liquid measuring cups.  Honestly when I bought them I was thinking about planting herbs in them for my patio.  Then I decided they would make super cute gifts for Mom.  Not everyone I'm gifting cooks with fresh herbs and since I was mailing some of the gifts out of state, I ditched the herb idea and went back for the matching dry measuring cups and measuring spoons.  Immediately I knew they would say, "Mom-You Really Measure Up."  I whipped up a cute measuring cup-shaped tag and tied them on with coordinating ribbon.  I'm super happy with how they turned out.  I can't wait until Sunday to present them to the Moms.  I've included the measuring cup tag as a printable for you below.  That way you can show the mothers in your life how they measure up too!
Isn't this just the cutest for Mom?

Crack Dip

It's been crazy busy around here.  Mother's Day is this weekend.  I've been sick.  The dog has been sick.  We've had scary weather.  My friend Ginger and I will be selling our fabulously crafty items with our little business, Alice & Betty at the Oklahoma City Garden Festival in the Park on May 21st. It looks like Hobby Lobby and Michael's gave birth to the kracken in my house.  Crafty stuff everywhere.  You could say I have a lot on my plate.  And unfortunately I don't mean the dinner plate.   So informed my husband and the Little Devil that until after the Garden Festival the dinner menus would probably suffer.  And by suffer I mean not trying new things.  A lot of old faithfuls and a lot of one pot meals.  I made a great shredded BBQ beef in my crock pot for sandwiches and I was searching for a dip recipe that I could throw together ahead of time.  And then I found Award Winning Crack Dip from my pal Michaela at An Affair From the Heart.  Can I just tell you our dinner DID NOT SUFFER.  This dip was absolutely fabulous.  We could not stop eating it.  In fact no one could finish their sandwiches because they were full on dip.  No wonder it's award winning and no wonder it's called CRACK DIP.  I'm happy to say not only did I get a lot of craftiness accomplished (all of my Mother's Day gifts are done.  Super cute post coming Friday!!!) but we actually had a very enjoyable and delicious dinner.  Thanks to this dip!

Seriously.  This stuff is so good.

Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies

Little Devil is so fortunate, she has some of the sweetest grandparents around.  So when Valentine's Day rolled around, we wanted to make them a super sweet treat to show how much we love them.  We found the cutest little treat bags in the dollar section at Target.  My late uncle (my dad's twin...basically dad #2) was a coon hunter.  Well he didn't actually "hunt" them.  The sport is more like go out in the woods and let your hound dogs chase them up a tree.  So when I saw these precious bags at Target, they reminded me of him and I knew they would make the perfect Valentine.  Little Devil and I discussed it and decided some kind of cookie would probably be best in this style of treat bag.  She suggested, "How about some kind of cake mix cookie?"  Immediately we both thought strawberry for Valentine's Day  With the addition of white chocolate chips we had the cutest Valentine treat ever:  Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies.
