Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. Partly because I am a proud American, and a former Air Force wife. And partly because it is HOT. Summertime, fireworks, cook-outs and good times with good friends. That means tasty beverages must be flowing. We wouldn't want to get dehydrated in the hot Oklahoma sun. A great friend shared this drink recipe with me years ago. We both make it every July 4th. It's a tradition. It's citrusy, cold and refreshing. Don't be turned off by the name, they aren't that strong. But a word of warning, they might sneak up on ya if you have too many!
Oh the suffering I do for the sake of blogging. I had to make one of these just for this picture. Of course I drank it. Times is hard. Don't waste :) |
We're off to a good start. Juice, Vodka and Sugar. Not Pictured: Water. That's the Line-Up! |
Combine orange juice concentrate and lemonade concentrate. |
Add the vodka. Add 6 juice cans of water. I didn't bother to photograph that. Water is kind of boring. |
Add the sugar. Stir well until everything is dissolved. |
Cover and freeze. It won't get solid, just slushy. |
Scoop mixture into a glass with an ice cream scoop. |
Top with chilled 7-UP or Sprite. |
Get a bendy straw or a cute swizzle stick and get in the sun and enjoy! |
Vodka Slushes
2 large cans frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 large can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
2 cups vodka
1/2 cup granulated sugar
6 juice cans of water
Combine all ingredients together in a freezer-safe container until frozen. (Mixture will not freeze solid, just slushy.) Scoop slush mixture into glasses with ice cream scoop. Top with chilled 7-UP or Sprite. Enjoy!
Thanks for posting this Candi! I love this beverage too! :)
